Jason Broadwater, founder and president of RevenFlo, joined local business owners on a panel at the recent Rock Hill Economic Development Corporation’s annual retreat. Panelists brainstormed ideas for stimulating economic growth and recruiting knowledge economy jobs. Within Old Town Rock Hill’s textile corridor, an idea regarding Clemson University’s technology incubator program was evaluated. The incubator program compliments work that students at the Hive undertake each semester, and builds on the concept of entrepreneurial endeavors spawning new businesses.
The Clemson technology incubator is proposed to open and co-locate with the the Hive. Panel members discussed the importance of knowledge workers. Broadwater explained that future economic growth will belong to those cities who invest in educating and keeping knowledge workers because they will create and attract new technology business.
