Website Helps Furry Friends

With a heart full of compassion, Becca Ebersole is a natural advocate for animals housed at York County Animal Shelters. In an effort to save animals who would not otherwise leave the shelters alive, Becca established Friends of York County Animal Shelter (FYCAS) in 2011. Through word-of-mouth and a well-liked Facebook page, FYCAS has seen adoption rates improve but not to Becca’s satisfaction. What FYCAS really needed was a marketing source. What they were up against was scarce funding for their all volunteer, non-profit agency.

Not to dispair. Friends of York County Animal Shelter (FYCAS) found a welcomed solution in a local, high tech, education program. The Hive, under the professional guidance of RevenFlo Web Team, embraced FYCAS as one of their Fall 2011 projects. Over the course of the semester, students designed and developed a website specifically addressing the needs of York County stray dogs and cats. Since its December 2011 launch, FYCAS has seen their adoption rates double. The new website provides a platform for Becca to showcase urgent pet adoption needs as well as heart warming pictures of successful pet adoptions. Visitor to the site can sign up to become foster pet parents, and, learn of other support opportunities for our furry friends. With a goal to have every stray leave York County Animal Shelters with tails wagging, FYCAS’s web site positions them toward greater success.
