Earlier this week, economic development leaders from Charlotte and Mecklenburg County came to Rock Hill to learn more about the Knowledge Park initiative. Our visitors included: Bill Cronin (Director of Economic Development for the City of Charlotte), Natasha Warren (Business Services Manager for the City of Charlotte), Alexis Gordon (International Relations Manager for the City of Charlotte), Peter Zeiler (Director of Economic Development for Mecklenburg County), and Adam Hill (Executive Director for Packard Place). Jason Broadwater and a group of local business/public sector leaders provided a hospitable tour of the Knowledge Park initiative from the Technology Incubator, the The Hive, Fountain Park, and ended at the Cotton Factory. Leaders from the Rock Hill community included: Stephen Turner (Director of Economic Development for Rock Hill), Bill Shanahan (County Manager), Chad Williams (County Councilman), Matt Dosh (Executive VP for Comporium), Andy Sheen (Regional President of First Citizens), Derick Close (CEO of Springs Creative), Gary Williams (CEO of Williams & Fudge), as well as Edie Dille (Dean of York Technical College). The meeting led to an excitement for future collaboration by all parties involved. We are stoked about the future of economic development in both Rock Hill and Charlotte.
