Last week, Elevation Church in Charlotte hosted their annual “LOVE Week”, where volunteers go out into the community to serve those less fortunate. Our very own Accounts Director, Chance Heflin, volunteered all week with the help of her boyfriend, 7-year old son, and 11-year old twin nieces. Keep reading to learn more about their week volunteering, and the organizations they helped:
Monday: In the AM on Monday, Chance and her little helpers baked muffins for the organization One7. One7’s vision statement says: To reach and transform inner city communities and families by intentionally forming cross cultural youth ministry teams while focusing on holistic change and spiritual growth. To learn more about the organization, click here. Later that evening, they played soccer with the Urban Eagles. The Urban Eagles are a soccer team in Charlotte dedicated to helping young boys in urban neighborhoods.
Tuesday: Served breakfast for the homeless at the Urban Ministry Center and tie-dyed shirts with the young girls at One7 Academy. Urban Ministry Center is working hard to find a solution for the homeless in Charlotte.
Wednesday: Outdoor beautification at One7 during the AM. Later in the evening, Chance and the kids enjoyed having dinner with the families of One7 as well as small group activities. The night came to a close with a pick-up soccer game.
Thursday: Served lunch at Charlotte Rescue Missions Rebound, an organization that assists the homeless and addicted in Charlotte.
Friday: The week came to a close but not before visiting our friends at Agape Senior Center in York. Chance and her helpers painted bird houses with the Alzheimer’s unit of Agape Senior Assisted Living of York. Friday night ended the week with an awesome concert by Elevation Worship at Time Warner Cable Arena.
